The hit Paramount film’s Annie Award-winning writer/director, along with Oscar-winning sound mixer Mark Ulano, join the stellar line-up of in-person attendees and speakers, including Henry Selick, Peter Sohn, and Sam Fell; the VIEW Conference takes place October 15-20 in Turin, Italy.

The VIEW Conference, Italy’s premiere international event on Computer Graphics, Interactive Techniques, Digital Cinema, 2D/3D Animation, VR and AR, Gaming, and VFX, has announced the addition of Annie Award-winner Jeff Rowe, writer and director of the Nickelodeon and Paramount hit animated feature, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Oscar-winning sound mixer Mark Ulano, to its stellar slate of in-person attendees/speakers for the upcoming event.

VIEW 2023, an English-speaking conference, takes place October 15-20, 2023, in the beautiful baroque city of Turin, Italy. Tickets are now available from the official VIEW Conference website.

Before joining Nickelodeon, Rowe wrote and co-directed Sony Picture Animation’s original action comedy Connected with Michael Rianda. The duo went on to direct and co-write the Oscar-nominated animated feature The Mitchells vs the Machines. Rowe also worked as a staff writer on Disney Television Animation’s Gravity Falls and Matt Groening’s Netflix series Disenchantment. He is a graduate of the CalArts Character Animation Program.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend, April O’Neil (Ayo Edebiri), helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them. Produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver, the film stars Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, and Brady Noon as Raphael.

At the upcoming conference, in a special presentation entitled “Killers of the Flower Moon: Telling the Story with Sound,” Ulano will discuss his methodology and share stories from the set of Martin Scorsese’s latest feature.

Ulano explained, “The idea is how to use the creative sound palette during the entire process of making a film, telling the story. The essential sound arts provide a wide range of possibilities to bring the film's character and environment directly to the audience in a very emotional way. Production sound is not something secondary, or something that is added to the film later, but is achieved when the film is shot. It's a process that begins before filming commences and continues until the end of the production phase.”

Since 1976, Ulano has worked recording sound for films including Titanic, which garnered him an Academy Award for Sound Mixing and the Cinema Audio Society Award for Best Sound Mixing for a Feature Film. He has multiple AMPAS, CAS, and BAFTA nominations, most recently his 3rd and 4th Oscar nominations for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Ad Astra. Other credits include The Hateful Eight; Super 8; The Tourist; Inglorious Basterds; Rocky Balboa; Django Unchained; Kill Bill Vols. I & 2; Jackie Brown; Iron Man; Spy Kids; and Stuart Little, as well as over 150 film and television projects. Ulano has collaborated with Quentin Tarantino for 28 years - his most recent work will be heard this October in Martin Scorsese’s new film, Killers of The Flower Moon.

Ulano is active in cinema mentoring as a teacher of workshops and speaker at sound symposiums internationally. He has sat 30 years as a board member for the Cinema Audio Society and served the full two terms as president and vice president. He also has served five terms as president of IATSE Local 695 (the film sound union in Los Angeles) and served nine terms on the Sound Branch Executive Committee of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences as well as various AMPAS subcommittees.
